I think Christy Reece's books are broken into trilogies based on the release dates being one or two months after one another, otherwise, I consider it one long series with this being book 7. If you've been with this series from the start, there are some recurring characters, which are always a fantastic bonus, but it's very infrequent and definitely not a requirement to enjoy this story if you haven't read them before. If you're new, what differentiates these novels from the rest is their ability to elicit emotional responses from readers. I always have strong reactions to the content and the coupling, and as a reader, I couldn't ask for more.

Seth Cavanaugh is a dishonorable ex-cop and a shady restaurant owner with ties to a significant crime boss when he meets FBI agent Honor Stone at a party. Unbeknownst to everyone, Honor included, is that Seth's background is an elaborate undercover setup so he can take out the seemingly untouchable crime ring. Knowing full well that any personal ties to him are put in extreme danger, he can't help but start a relationship with Honor, hoping it will go unnoticed. When the wrong people do take notice, Seth betrays and lies to his family and Honor to alienate himself for the responsibility he undertook. Fast forward five years later, the crime lord is dead, and Seth's honorable actions are essentially out, but the damage Seth put everyone through is essentially irrevocable. When his 20 year old niece ends up missing, his family calls him for help thinking he may still have some of his shady connections to find her, but Seth ends up turning to Noah McCall and Last Chance Rescue. Historical matchmaker, Noah, agrees to help and assigns one of his latest LCR recruits, Honor, as the lead investigator and forces the two to work together to bring down a repulsively evil cult leader who's been kidnapping young women and brainwashing them for sex and servitude to stabilize his community.

Right off the bat, I had some pretty strong feelings regarding Seth's decision to cut off ties with his family and friends for the job. Although his intentions were admirable, the execution of it was poor and I simply didn't buy that no one could be told. There are easier ways to cut ties without absolute betrayal and ultimately led me to the four star rating. That and I wanted more from the supporting character favorites. Other than that, the writing is exceptional, the villain is truly heinous, the chemistry is explosive, and the plotline is completely mesmerizing. I simply cannot get enough of her novels, even though the content can be stomach wrenching at times, and anxiously await Dylan and Jamie's story. If you've been following the series, what we know about the two aready promises to be another emotional winner.

SWEET JUSTICE is a second-chance-at-love-wrapped-up-with-a-suspenseful-plot story. The main characters are smart and tough, but have a definite tender, vulnerable aspect to them. And the bad guy? He is really, really bad!
When the hero is arrested for murder in the first line of the book, you just know this story is going to keep you on your toes. The reader will be rooting for Honor and Seth throughout the book as they make their way through a tough, personal case and find their way back to each other.
This is a great addition to the LCR series as we get to revisit a few favorites and are introduced to new characters that we will definitely want to know more about. As much as I'd recommend reading all the books in the series, this story can absolutely stand on its own. A reader new to the series could definitely start here and not lose any of the story.
Next up for me? The next book in the series, SWEET REVENGE, which was just released.
This book arrived in my mailbox on Friday evening, and I finally put it down Saturday afternoon. Loved the story, loved the characters, loved the writing. There have been enough reviewers detailing the story line so I won't go into that, but I will say that the main characters in this book were engaging and believable, with some major chemistry between them. Seth made a decision five years earlier that changed Honor's life, and we as the reader watch as she struggles to live with the consequences. I could totally relate to the intense emotion of the break-up scene, even knowing the reasoning behind it.

Five years later Seth's niece disappears and they are brought back together, this time as professionals, forcing them to deal with the repercussions of Seth's choices as well as deal with the feelings (and chemistry) they both still have for each other. Loved Seth's thoughts about Honor; I just melted at the "she may be a tough girl to the rest of the world, but to him she was simply his heart" part... (sigh).

It was nice to see some "older" LCR members, even for the brief moment they were mentioned.

My reasons for only giving 4 stars instead of 5 have to do with the relationship between the villian and his daughter, which totally squicked me out. BUT - kudos to the writer for her ability to cause a strong reaction in her readers. That's the sign of a really good writer.

Sweet Justice is an exciting and passionate novel. Honor and Seth share a fiery chemistry. I really enjoyed their relationship and their history but the star of Sweet Justice is the dark and intense plot. Sweet Justice is filled with extremely brave women, honorable men and a terribly disturbing villain that will haunt you.
