I agree with the other reviewer, but I feel compelled to embellish on this book a bit more.

Like the reviewer said, the critic seems to love Purple Rain and about 1/8 of all of Prince's other more accessible hits, and that's about it.

As much as I can't stand reading some of my personal favorites (like Elephants and Flowers, and The Continental, to name a couple) are simply slandered and called 'filler', I understand people have their own tastes. This critic, however, despises anything that doesn't sound like Purple Rain; which is why he likes Raspberry Beret, and the rest of 'Around The World In A Day' is, in his ears, utter crap apparently (not his words specifically but that's pretty much the tone he set).

Basically, anything that's not a mild-mannered, semi-self-expressive chart-maker sucks, and the rest (about 10% of Prince's discography and 1% of Prince's true collection of recordings) is good enough for a positive review. It's really funny actually how he constantly degrades Prince's 'massive ego', yet seems to have written a book about an artist he doesn't care for at all, probably just to make a few dollars like most other critics. I wonder who has the real ego issue here.

He also apparently doesn't get any of the more artistic ideas that Prince puts in his music, like for instance the concept behind the 0{+> album, Come, and Lovesexy, for a few good examples. Honestly the critic sounds like he listened to each song once, decided he didn't like it, and retained his earlier and biased skepticisms of the artist.

Well, if Geoff Brown ever reads this, you're not fooling anyone, you're a poor writer, a biased, arrogant critic, and don't deserve publication.
