These days I tread carefully with this author and read reviews where I can as I have been caught paying a lot of money and found myself reading repeating situations and feeling like I had been cheated at the end because I could see no difference between what I was reading and what I had previously read. I really like this series and loved the Drake sisters but having been caught a few times in this author's other series I had to hesitate. But then I thought I will take the chance because there is something spellbinding in this sacred place that housed our previously related sisters and now these women joined at the heart to become sisters. The raw passion of our hero is very hard to walk away from. This is M/s Feehan at her best both in the writing and the plot. It is a struggle not to connect with Judith and for me it is about the connection we make. This was great reading but I will continue to be wary, just that little bit.

Spirit Bound Sisters of the Heart; Sea Haven Christine Feehan 9780749954741 Books Reviews
I have enjoyed most of the stories I have read by Ms. Feehan (my favorite being "Dark Fire"). I also enjoyed this story, but there is a similar story by the same author that I liked better "Turbulent Sea". Unfortunately, both these stories had an element I hated The hero is trained sexually to seduce women into telling all, and uses his skills as methodically ruthless as his other fighting skills, in his under-cover missions. This aspect of both novels disturbed me. That is why I only gave "Turbulent Sea" 4 stars.
However, I found the hero's sexual training to coldly seduce women, more objectionable in "Spirit Bound", because he actually employs such "skills" on the heroine. Despite his instant attraction to her, he uses her (at least it felt that way to me), and he definitely deceives her in a terrible way. And worse, when he finally comes clean with her, she TOO EASILY FORGAVE HIM. TRIPLE YIKES!!!!! Thus, my 3 star rating for this book.
So, I have read the reviews, they are a 50/50 split, and bought the book anyway. I had read the first in the series and realized right off that this series was a step in a new direction for Feehan. I put the first book down for a day and cleared my head of any preconceived ideas about the plot, the characters, or the outcomes and came back to it. I was not disappointed and I did the same with this book.
This story has so many elements that appear mundane; but reek of ordinary life gone astray that I had to stop at times to check where I was going in the book. This was not a bad thing. The layers that I can see developing as this series comes into its fullest are going to be of the type that I am going to have to go back and reread the series to catch them all. This book as a stand alone is a good read and as the next in a series subset was interesting. Feehan has stepped out of her normal character development and applied subtlety that one can overlook as boring if they tend to speed through her books as most fans (myself included) tend to do. I enjoyed the book and think it deserves a chance when I could (and you can) step outside my preconceived ideas and expectations of one of my favorite authors. My only disappointment, that Lev has not yet Elle's husband. I understand it would detract from this series story line; but in the next one it should provide an interesting tie-in to the Drake series she seemed in the first two books to want to break away from but can't completely do and will most likely have to make the story lines blend more subtly but no fully.
One note When a story, even in a fantasy set, is not all about excessive fantasy-building and more about realism in a book tried and true fans are often disappointed. They want the author to stick with what has worked and keep churning out the books. I say, ugh let the author grow and expand and have a bit of faith! I don't want another Dan Koontz who reportedly comes up with new ideas, has others write the books using his formula, and then tweaks them for the final publication mill.
Take the time and drop your preconceived ideas about Christine Feehan and you will enjoy this book.

As far as I am concerned, you can not go wrong with a Christine Feehan book. She breathes life into her characters and invites you into the unique worlds she creatively builds. These characters have interwoven relationships which puts emphasis on families and friendships. The Sea Haven series is just magical❣️
I feel almost the same way about this book that I did about Turbulent Sea, though I like this one a little better.
The writing wasn’t all that great here, I didn’t feel the same way I did about Water Bound. The cover is alright, though maybe it could have had something to do with what she loved to do, painting instead of looking like the picture described on a jail cell wall. Like Rikki on her cover. It was in the sea and set the tone for the story. This one…not so much.
It’s always going to be interesting learning about the brothers and the girls past but I just couldn’t seem to lose myself in this book. It was rather slow paced for the plot and the ending with the bad guy was a bit anti-climactic. I’m not really sure what to write about this book.
Even when there was action, it felt tame. There was a lot of talk about emotions in this book and maybe that’s one of the reasons I didn’t really feel anything for it? It was a good book, don’t get me wrong, I just didn’t really feel anything.
I know the author writes about the couple that speaks to her the loudest but I feel like this one should have waited? Introduce all the single elements first and then the one that binds them?
Judith is a famous artist whose artwork is infused with emotion. She is also an elemental who can manipulate emotions with her own feelings. Her life is safe among her sisters on their farm and she has buried her troubled past in her work. But, life gets in the way sometimes. A tortured brother trying to save his country seeks her out to use her only to meet his soul mate and will do anything to save her. Like the kaleidoscope Judith builds, this book takes you on a twisted, colorful sensory read and delivers you to a satisfying beautiful ending. The second Sea Haven book continues to charm and enthral!
