Love Yourself First by Delvon Johnson is a comedic look into the fashion industry and the divas who fight to make it to the top. We are introduced to some pretty interesting characters, ranging from the down- low brothers to the eccentric divas. Meet the queens of fashion, Dwight and Issiah, best friends, who set out to start their own design business. With just the right touch, and all the right contacts their business takes off, and quickly. Looking forward to adding some additional flair to their showroom, they meet and fall in love with Joan Murphy, a shoe connoisseur. Joan is in a steady relationship but her other half has ulterior motives that will cause Joan's world to spin out-of- control.With a steady flow and upbeat tempo, Love Yourself First was a fast read that I thoroughly enjoyed. I was well entertained as I waited for the walls to come crumbling down on the fiasco that Joan was trying to drum up, as well as the gorgeous men who seemed to continuously jump out of the closet and claim they were not on the down-low but just experimenting. Love Yourself First was very interesting and kept me wanting more. With descriptive scenes from some of New York's hottest hang-out spots; I felt like I was one of the paparazzi waiting to take that winning shot. I enjoyed the story but found that there were some editing issues, that if corrected could make the story flow much smoother. I recommend this book to readers of all genres, and look forward to reading what Mr. Johnson has next.

I laughed, cried and was at times a ball of nerves as I devoured this great read one afternoon. The main character is a piece of work as Mr. Johnson gives us an indeoyh look at unbridled ambition. I enjoyed immensely.
I purchased this book on another website a few weeks ago. I loved it! It's dramatic, fun, sweet, entertaining and I read it quickly. I actually met the author Delvon Johnson at one of his book signings in New Jersey, but didn't have the cash to purchase the book on me that night. He is so kind and it was a pleasure meeting him. I definitely recommend this book to all; I think just about anyone can get into it no matter what age or lifestyle!
LOVE YOURSELF FIRST welcomes the reader into the bourgeoisie world of Vondel Consulting and the drama that encompasses the lives of Dwight Jones and Issiah Richards. Both are drama queens who endlessly seek love in all the wrong places. Their tumultuous lives are further enhanced when Joan Marks figures into the equation. A diva with her own agenda, Joan wreaks havoc on Vondel Consulting. Will Dwight and Issiah be successful in seeking revenge? Will Joan reap what she sows? While she is weaving her web of lies, Joan's fiancé, Maurice, is entangled in his own web of deceit. In this tale of love, lies, betrayal and deception, the reader is entranced by the never-ending drama in the homosexual and the down low lives of these colorful characters.
For a first time author, surprisingly Delvon Johnson's work has a heavy E. Lynn Harris influence. The book is a page-turner from beginning to end. I anxiously await his future work!
